Topic/Skill: Korean vs. American weddings, school systems
Feedback provided to tutee: I corrected my tutee on more idiomatic phrases and corrected his grammar occasionally. I also taught him some wedding related vocabulary used in the US such as reception, wedding planner, etc. Overall, I think this was an interested and engaging tutoring session.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:
During this lesson, I learned a lot about Korean wedding traditions. We compared and contrasted Korean and US weddings and why there are some cultural differences between the weddings. It was really interesting to learn about how wedding culture in Korea is pretty westernized, but how there are still some noticeable differences, We also discussed the merits of private and public schools and talked about the school systems in both countries. This was especially interesting as I learned more about where I could potentially teach English in Korea in the future.
