Date/Time: September 11, 2018/2:00PM

Topic/Skill: Listening/ESL Lower Intermediate

Teacher Presentation: The teacher was able to deliver material in a friendly and engaging manner. He gave a detailed explanation, whenever a student needed extra help. Once the teacher lowered down on one knee to become eye-level with a seated student.

Classroom Management: the teacher started the class by asking the students to introduce themselves: their name, their home country and their favorite thing to do.  The teacher introduced himself and shared a personal story from his life. This activity set the friendly, informal tone and encouraged the students’ participation.

Materials: whiteboard, visual aid (photograph), a computer with an audio player.
Student Participation: the students were eager to participate in the group discussions, as well as taking turns answering the teacher’s questions. They enjoyed working in pairs practicing new vocabulary through building simple dialogues.

Feedback provided: The teacher encouraged self-correction whenever any mistakes occurred. He offered hints to guide the students in the right direction.
Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: I liked the activity in which the students had to create a story by looking at the photograph of the teacher and his colleague.  Using real characters for the students to talk about, made the task personable and realistic.
