Yun Jung and I met on Friday, September 14th, at CIES. We discussed her goals when learning English. She wants to be able to read The Economist, because she feels that the South Korean economy is very connected to the global economy. We talked about how there are shows she can watch to improve her English and also learn more about the global economy. We also talked about the power of an email that ends in ".edu." This type of email can get you discounts to many services, including most newspapers and Spotify. I showed her what Spotify is, and how she could use it to learn more about American culture. On Spotify, every song that plays has an explanation of what the lyrics mean. Yun Jong said she was interested in learning more about this, so I showed her my Spotify account. I hope she learned a lot about other ways to practice English.
