On Friday, September 14th, I met with Domingos at Strozier. There, we went over his speech for his speaking class. He will have to present the speech to his class, so he wanted to go over it for any errors. The biggest issue I saw within the speech was the word choice. Domingos had made some word choices that sound well in Portuguese, but in English they sounded a little off. For example, he said he would like to expose himself to new opportunities. In English, to expose oneself has a lewd connotation. Therefore, we changed his word choice to being open to new ideas. With this word choice, there is no way a reader or listener can think that Domingos was going to actually expose himself. Overall, we cleaned up his speech, hopefully the presentation goes well.
