Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:

During this tutoring session, we first talked about linguistics. Dojun talked for about 10 minutes about Chinese characters in the Korean language and then about a movement right now in which some scholars and academics are trying to "phase out" these Chinese words and characters from the Korean language. Then we talked about weekend activities, including differentiating between questions asking about habitual actions ("usually") and one-time events. We also talked about gift-giving in the Korean culture as he will attend a birthday dinner this weekend. Next, we talked about travel and safety, including countries with travel warnings for US citizens and why these countries might be dangerous. Overall, Dojun is very chatty and easily carries on the conversation without much prompting from me. Going forward I will continue to think of a few leading questions for each tutoring session and we can continue to focus on conversational speaking skills for less-common topics.
