Location: CIES Lounge
Topic/Skill: Writing and error correction, conversation
Feedback provided to tutee: My tutee brought a test and an essay from last week and we went over some of the mistakes she had made. I pointed out the errors and encouraged her to figure out the answer to the questions on her own. Then we went over tips for her to improve her speaking skills and listening comprehension. Afterward, we did some conversation practice and I corrected her as errors came up.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:
I learned more about how to correct specific grammar questions. I was able to use some of the grammar we learned in class, such as countable nouns and singular versus plural subjects. Therefore I feel more comfortable teaching these grammar points and correcting sentence structure and pronunciation. It was also interesting to see an essay written by a CIES student. I also learned more about my tutee and her life back in China as well as her goals for the future.
