Olivia CO#2
On Tuesday, September 11th, I observed a listening class at CIES. During the class the teacher read a passage from "The Indian In The Cupboard" and then the class had to answer some questions about what happened in the chapter. I think this exercise was a really good way to improve listening comprehension. By having the students just listen to the chapter as they read along, sounds like a good idea I had not considered beforehand. The material was level appropriate, the syntax was moderately difficult and the vocabulary was also appropriate. The teacher asked a few questions that could only be answered through context clues, which also helps with reading. Overall, the class opened me up to new ideas regarding how to teach listening comprehension.
