Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:

He is from Saudi Arabia. He has a wife and a 4-year-old son. His wife is studying interior design at FSU and he has taken leave from his work to come the US to learn English. He wants to apply to FAMU and study physical education. He has to complete SATs and IELT tests and therefore wants to improve his English so he can get into the school.

He also expressed how he thought English was a very useful and important language to learn as it is very universal in the whole world. We talked about English learning in Saudi Arabia and he said that when he was in Elementary school, they were taught to pass the exams and not learning any actual language skills.

His strongest skill in English is speaking and he struggles the most with spelling/writing. He also finds vocabulary memorization difficult. Therefore, we will focus on his writing skills as well as introducing him to new vocab and methods to memorize new vocab.

His speaking proficiency was very good and almost uninterrupted with good pronunciation. He made some grammar mistakes but not so significantly that it affected his fluency.
