Topic Discussed:  Minimal Pairs and Speaking

This session provided a good, focused opportunity for practicing and refining speaking skills. Minimum Pairs exercises were prepared in advance to use during this session. Lists of words were presented for practice. These lists of words included pairs such as:

Big Pig

Tank and Thank

Thin and Thing

Rice and Lice

Care and Car

Far and For

Appropriate time was spent drilling those words that contained letters and sounds that are particularly foreign to Asian speakers. Some of the time was devoted to speaking the words in context. Unfamiliar vocabulary words used in our discussion were explored to discover meaning and contextual application. One can certainly say about learning, "Those "ah-ha" moments do encourage the Tutee and Tutor."
