Topic/Skill: Vowel sounds, reading comprehension
In our previous session I discovered that he was struggling a lot with vowel sounds, specifically whether he should add an 'e' at the end of a word or not. Therefore, I talked to him about guardian consonants and long/short vowels. This really seemed to help him with the 'e' issue. Furthermore, he is very keen on practicing reading comprehension and vocabulary so I had brought a level appropriate text with questions. With this text we practiced some good reading strategies and what you should do to locate answers fast. I'd also brought a not so level appropriate test (similar to IELTS/TOEFL) because he really wants to learn the academic words of those kinds of texts. We practiced some of these academic words through repetition and defining the word.
