Yun Jung CO #2

Date: September 5, 2018

Time: 13:00-13:50 p.m.

Topic/Skill: Speaking-Group 3C

This class dealt with corrections on lots of sentences which students made in its previous class.

Teacher Presentation: The instructor used projector for easier eye-catching with colored correction. She looked very friendly to students that made students feel comfortable to speak in English when they have any question. She encouraged the students commenting "beautiful mistakes" many times. The entire class was focused on sentence correction containing grammar check, vocabulary, and word choices.

Classroom Management: I think it is very good way to get accustomed to English expression by combining grammar, vocabulary, and speaking. The sentences presented for correction needed to be checked in various approaches. The instructor used the sentence correction examples made by students, so it attracted the students' interest. She gave some time for about 5 minutes at the beginning of the class for self-correction which seemed effective to get students to have more interest for the contents they would learn.

Student Participation: The students seems a little bit lousy since the class was right after lunch time. So teacher tried to make more interaction by asking and answering about each sentence throughout the class.

Feedback Provided: It was impressive for me to know that the students can get more benefits if the instructor is greatly prepared to explain other part of English. As a good example, the instructor in this speaking class seemed professional in explaining the grammar issues, even though this class was for speaking lesson. Her comprehensive approaches would be very helpful for students in every aspects of English; Grammar, Writing, and Speaking.

Lesson(s) on teaching you learned:
To make the students think about errors of each sentence was very good way to have them more engaged to the class contents. And I think the students feel less hesitant to speak in English since the teacher seemed very bright and friendly. Speaking is the most difficult part of English, so the teacher's casual tone of teaching will helps student more progressive.
