My conversation partner is such a good listener, which makes me feel comfortable when I talk to her in English.
We talked about the linguistic feature of Korean and English.
I've been curious why I can easily understand Korean student's English and why it's hard to understand other countries' English. I also experienced that English teacher seemed to understand the third country's English more than Korean's English sometimes even though I thought Korean's pronunciation was more exact. Finally, I made a conclusion that it was because of intonation. Korean has no intonation, and I've had hard time remembering the intonation of each English word.
I've thought that made me feel not confident to speak aloud. But I was encouraged by Meghan's explanation that native speakers can figure out what I'm meaning to say if I try to say it aloud even though I have difficulty pronouncing it with the exact intonation.
And Also we talked about 't' sound which sometimes sounds like 'r' or 'd'. After our conversation, I felt I don't need to be nervous to pronounce a word with too much care. I learned that it was more important for me to say it aloud with confidence.
