Topic/Skill: Speaking and listening skills
Location: CIES Student Lounge
On my first meeting with this conversation partner, we introduced ourselves and talked about our respective hometowns. My conversation partner is from a very small village in China-- it only has 12 people in the whole village and there is no cell phone service or wifi! However, she went to university in Suzhou which is a very beautiful city. We also discussed her plans for after CIES. After CIES she wants to pursue scientific research with a professor at FSU. She is planning to meet him sometime this semester but is worried that her English skills are too poor to discuss her previous research with him. Therefore she hopes to get more speaking practice during our conversation partner sessions as well as improve her English listening skills.
