Topic/Skill: Conversation fluency
Feedback provided to tutee: During this session we focused on having a natural conversation, during which time we discussed any unnatural word choices or vocabulary errors. For example, he referred to multiple cities like, "Seoul City", "Beijing City", etc. So, although this is not incorrect, I told him it is more natural for him to drop the "city" part and just say the city name, unless it is somewhere like "New York City".
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:
I really enjoyed this session because it felt very comfortable. I think since my tutee is such a high level student, he is capable of having extremely fluent conversation without many problems. Therefore, I mostly tried to direct the conversation to topics he may not have discussed in English before but would still be relevant to his life. That way, I could see the extent of his vocabulary and conversational skills (which are the two issues he asked for the most help with).
